McDonald Supports Afghanistan Policy

Posted Dec 01, 2009

“Tonight the President made some comments that will breathe a sigh of relief to many Montana families.  The fact that the Afghanistan war will start to come to an end in eighteen months means that families will become whole again.  Sons and daughters will return home and mothers and fathers will start to feel whole.”

Congressional Candidate Dennis McDonald made these remarks after watching the President’s troop announcement.

“While I don’t believe in the escalation of the war in Afghanistan, it is important that we continue to pray for the many men and women who will be called to duty to serve their country.  Many of these men and women have served multiple tours of duty and have been to either Iraq or Afghanistan numerous times – too many times, in some cases,” McDonald said.

“Afghanistan is a land that has been in the crosshairs of many countries and empires ranging from The Mongols in the 13th century to the Russians in the 1980’s.  Historically this has been a formidable land that presents formidable challenges.”
