Guns

I firmly support our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. It is a right that is guaranteed in both the U.S. Constitution and the Montana Constitution. Gun control in the McDonald household means shooting straight and safe, and always hitting your target.

Ours is a bountiful state rich in game and fish so it’s no surprise that hunting and fishing are a big part of who we are. This provides our families with the opportunity to enjoy the unique natural beauty of our state as they pass along knowledge and traditions from one generation to the next.

I grew up hunting with my father. He taught me to shoot. He also taught me about gun safety and responsible hunting and instilled in me a deep respect for the natural world and our role as its custodians.

I’ve since passed along to my own children what my father taught me about safe and responsible hunting– and the same respect for nature and passion for the hunt that he shared with me. As your congressman, I will fight hard against any attempt to infringe upon our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. We need to preserve and protect our traditions and culture.

I will also fight to conserve the places that have made Montana an outdoor wonderland. And I will protect our access to our streams and rivers because they belong to the public, as do the fish and game that are so much a part of the place we share with our friends and families.
